Charlotte is quietly abandoning the happy hour window. A quarter of the listings here run all day, every day, or cover a weekend, which is a far higher share than any comparable Southern market. Rosemont on East 7th Street lists $2 Miller High Life and $2 PBR with no time limit attached. Caswell Station on North Caswell Road lists $6 you-call-its the same way. Bargarita in NoDa lists drink deals from $3.50 to $11 all week, and Hawthorne's out on Highland Shoppes Drive lists half-off wine bottles seven days.

Where the window does exist, it is short and it is Uptown. North and South Tryon Street carry the most listings in the city, and the pattern there is a 4 to 6 or 5 to 7 block: Indaco on South Boulevard lists $7 Peroni and $9 classic cocktails from 4:30 to 6:30, Caroline's Oyster Bar in Brooklyn Village lists $2 oysters from 4 to 7, and Lincoln Street on South Church lists a $3 to $5 starter menu from 5 to 6:30.

The neighborhoods spread out from there. Central Avenue serves Plaza Midwood, North Davidson Street covers NoDa, and South Boulevard runs down through South End. Sea Level on East 5th lists $1.50 house oysters from 2 to 6, and STIR on South Tryon lists the same price on weekday lunch hours. Wells and drafts at $5 is the most common listing citywide.
