Happy Hour Map ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Happy Hour Map mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our app.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide our service:
- Location data: With your permission, we access your device's GPS location to show happy hour venues near you. Location is used only on-device to display the map and never stored on our servers.
- Favorites: If you save favorite venues, that list is stored locally on your device. It is not transmitted to us.
- Contact information: If you submit a premium listing inquiry or contact form, we collect your email address solely to respond to your inquiry.
- Push notification token: If you opt in to flash deal alerts, we store your device's anonymous push token (linked to a city, never to your identity) so we can deliver notifications.
- Diagnostics: Anonymous crash and performance data via Firebase, used only to fix bugs and improve stability.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not require account creation or login.
- We do not collect your name, phone number, or any personal identifier beyond your email if you contact us.
- We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
- Our mobile apps do not use cross-app tracking or advertising identifiers, and carry no advertising.
3. How We Use Information
Location data is used exclusively on your device to calculate which happy hour venues are near you. Email addresses you provide are used only to respond to your inquiries. Push tokens are used only to deliver flash deal notifications you've opted in to receive.
4. Third-Party Services
The app relies on the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Google Maps: Powers the interactive map display. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Firebase (Google): Push notifications and anonymous crash reporting. See Firebase Privacy.
- Cloudflare: Hosts our backend data and delivers it via Cloudflare Workers. See Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
- Google Places: Venue names, addresses, and hours are sourced from the Google Places API. Some older records were originally sourced from Yelp's public API. See Google's Privacy Policy.
The website at happy-hour-map.com additionally uses:
- Google Analytics: Measures page views, traffic sources, and which links visitors click, so we can tell which pages are worth keeping. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Microsoft Clarity: Records how pages are used, including scrolling, clicks, and session replays, so we can see where a page's layout confuses people. Clarity automatically masks text you type into form fields. See Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
- Google AdSense: Our homepage, city pages and blog articles load Google's advertising script, which may set cookies and, where ads are served, show you advertising. Our mobile apps do not. See how Google uses advertising data.
- Stripe: Processes payments if you buy a Reserve or Premium listing. Card details go to Stripe directly and never reach us. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Some articles also carry affiliate links to booking partners, marked where they appear; if you book through one we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. You can opt out of analytics and advertising cookies by turning on “Do Not Track” or a tracker-blocking extension in your browser, or by blocking cookies for this site. Nothing on the site needs cookies to work — happy hour listings load the same either way. Our mobile apps do not use either tool.
5. Data Security
Because we collect minimal personal data and store nothing identifiable on our servers, the security risk to your information is minimal. Your favorites and settings are stored only on your device.
6. Children's Privacy
Happy Hour Map is intended for users 17 years of age or older due to its references to alcohol. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to know what data we hold about you, request deletion, and opt out of communications. To exercise any of these rights, email us at thehappyhourmap@gmail.com.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
9. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or want to request deletion of any data we may hold, please email us at thehappyhourmap@gmail.com.
